Care of Magical Creatures
O.W.L Level
Third Year
Lesson 1: An Introduction to Care of Magical Creatures, a lesson focusing on setting out the guidelines of the course and testing the students' knowledge.
Lesson 2: A look into the Practical side of things, students will meet one of the many creatures that live in the Forbidden Forrest and learn how to handle, restrain and care for the animal alongside some general facts about it.
- Students looking for extra credit must outline a basic care sheet for a magical creature of their choice. -
Lesson 3: An introductory lesson to Hippogriffs, one of the focuses of the third year course, students will get to meet and interact with the creatures before studying their behaviour and habits.
Lesson 4: The study of caring for a Hippogriff, both day to day and breeding.
Lesson 5: Hippogriff practical exam, assessment of a students ability to safely handle and interact with the animal.
Lesson 6: An Introductory lesson to Knarl's, mainly the difference between them and their muggle equivalent. Students will get to meet and interact with the animal for the latter half of the lesson.
Lesson 7: Students will be sent into the in small groups with the task of catching a Knarl, a hint will be given and there is no penalty for students who fail to capture one.
- Students who successfully capture one gain extra credit. -
Lesson 8: Practical Exam, Students will be sent into the in small groups with the task of catching a Knarl, there are multiple ways to do this and the groups who successfully catch a Knarl will pass the Practical Exam whilst those who don't fail the module.
- Students can retake it although it'll be for a lower grade. -
Lesson 9: Revision Lesson.
Lesson 10: Mid-Year Exam, students are tested in everything they have learned so far in preparation for the end of year exams.
Lesson 11: Students will study the diets of all of the creatures they have studied so far and work on setting out food traps to allow them to study the animals from a distance.
Lesson 12: Name as many creatures as they can along with what they know about those creatures, special attention paid towards those who may reside at Hogwarts,
Lesson 13: Split off into Professor assigned teams the groups will be placed against each other to find traces of and name as many creatures as they can they reside in the Forbidden Forrest.
- There will be provisions issued to make sure students don't get too lost or left in the Forrest. -
Lesson 14: A review of the previous lessons work, the winning team is allowed to choose a prize and assign the others a forfeit.
Lesson 15: An Introductory lesson to Niffler's, prior knowledge will be assessed before students get to meet and interact with the Niffler's at Hogwarts. Students will be expected to pay attention to their habits and behaviours. They will learn how to handle, control and restrain the creature.
Lesson 16: The study of Niffler's used by Cursebreakers, students thoughts on magical creatures being used for work and the similarities to the muggle world.
Lesson 17: Assesment of a students ability to handle a Niffler.
Lesson 18: Revision of all previous practical sessions, students discretion of what is redone.
Lesson 19: Revision of all previous practical sessions, students discretion of what is redone.
Lesson 20: Revision for up-coming exams, going over all of the material and answering any questions students may have.
